Labour councillors re-elected in Brixton Hill with pledges to make area cleaner & greener and roads safer

Brixton Hill group shotAdrian Garden, Florence Nosegbe and Martin Tiedemann have been elected as the Labour councillors for Brixton Hill.

Adrian, formerly councillor for Vassall ward around Brixton Road, lives in Brixton Hill and was previously chair of the Brixton Hill Safer Neighbourhood Panel and of the Friends of Windmill Gardens. He joins Florence and Martin who have been councillors for the area since 2006 and 2013 respectively. Continue reading

Brixton Hill’s Labour Action Tea, recently sent out their latest email newsletter for residents, distributed to hundreds of residents in Brixton Hill to report back on local issues.

Cllr Adrian Garden presents parking petition to Lambeth Council

Adrian head shouldersFollowing a consultation by Brixton Hill’s Labour Action Team, Councillor Adrian Garden has presented a petition on parking to Lambeth Council on behalf of residents of Kingswood, Thorncliffe, Thornbury and Rosebery Roads.

Over 50 residents responded to the councillors’ survey. Over 90% of those responding were in favour of extending parking controls to their area, although there were strong feelings on both sides.

By presenting the petition to Lambeth Council on behalf of residents, councillors are committing the Council to issue a formal response on how they will proceed on the issue. Brixton Hill’s Labour councillors are asking that the Council carry out a study and proceed to a formal consultation of residents.

The questionnaire is still open and councillors are very much interested in hearing from more residents about ways the parking issues in these roads can be addressed. Continue reading
