MONDAY 23rd: consultation event on plans for new school building for Orchard Primary

An event is being held on Monday 23 July to consult the public on plans for a new building at Orchard Primary School at the corner of Cotherstone and Christchurch Roads. The exhibition will display the proposals to provide enhanced teaching facilities. Members of the project team will be on hand to discuss the proposals before a planning application is made.

In addition to a new building, the existing buildings at Orchard Primary are listed and repair works are proposed for those. The scheme will also provide improvements to the landscape including new planting, new outdoor activity spaces, study gardens and performance spaces.

The public consultation event will take place in the School Hall at Orchard Primary School, Christchurch Road, London, SW2 3ES on Monday 23rd July 6pm-8pm.

Question to Council regarding Sudbourne and Orchard primary schools

Orchard Primary School

Ahead of the next meeting of Lambeth Council next week, written questions to the Cabinet have been published. Brixton Hill councillor Adrian Garden asked for an update regarding the long hoped for expansion of Sudbourne Primary School, and the planned rebuild of Orchard Primary School on Christchurch Road.

Current planning and licensing issues

Here are some of the key planning and licensing issues in the ward at the moment. Residents may wish to make direct representations to the Council or contact ward councillors.

Orchard Primary School

13/04830/FUL: Orchard Primary on Cotherstone Road has put in an application for the demolition of existing non-listed buildings and the erection of 7 new dwelling houses, including new vehicular and pedestrian access.

Veranda Bar

Following a serious incident which allegedly took place at the Veranda Bar on Acre Lane, the police have referred it to the Licensing Sub-Committee for a review. Details of the review and the police submission are here. A special meeting of the LSC will consider this at 7pm on 6th November at the Town Hall.

Because of the emergency nature of this application, residents only have until Monday 28 October to make representations. Advice is available. To make a representation:
