A notice has appeared today in the Lambeth Weekender outlining that the Council intend to allow a month-long temporary closure to cars of New Park Park Road at the junction with Brixton Hill, starting 9th December.
The closure is to allow for essential gas works and will not be at all times of day, regulated by signs.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14
TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF NEW PARK ROAD
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Lambeth, with the agreement of Transport for London, intends to make an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily ban vehicles from entering that length of New Park Road which lies between A23 Brixton Hill and Felsberg Road.
2. The road closure is necessary to allow gas main works to be carried out and would only apply at such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs.
3. Alternative routes for affected vehicles are available via:
(a) A23 Brixton Hill (northwards), Dumbarton Road and Lyham Road and vice versa; and
(b) A23 Brixton Hill (southwards), A205 Streatham Place and New Park Road and vice versa.
4. The Order would come into force on 9th December 2014 and would continue for 1 month, or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.
