Demolition to start on old Livity School buildings later this month

Residents close to the site of the old Livity School site at the corner of Mandrell Road and Strathleven Road will receive a letter in coming days setting out that work is starting soon on the redevelopment of the site. The eventual plan is for the site to come back into school use as the extension for Sudbourne Primary School.

Works will start with demolition of the current buildings, starting at the end of January. In the initial period the contractors, Lancebox, will be getting the site ready by installing hoarding, welfare facilities for workers and installing scaffolding requirements in readiness for the demolition works proper, to start mid-February.

Generally, the demolition works should last approximately 8 weeks and will be carried out using demolition machines to remove the main building elements, hard standing and foundations. Materials and waste will be removed from the site daily using waste carrying lorries.

Lancebox have committed to make the demolition process as “pleasant as possible” for neighbours, with no impact on normal routines. The letter will provide residents with the site manager’s contact details to report any problems.
